I do not know about you but I am having a hard time finding my passion and meaning in life. I always had goals in life and now I do not know what my goals are anymore, well except moving to France. But I am talking about passion, the drive that takes you places and the feeling of doing something meaningful. I do not know what I want to do with my life or what I should work with. I achieved my set out goals and some of my other goals died out as I did not wanted to pursue them anymore. I realised the goals were just not for me anymore. My work goals are no longer there and I need to do something else. I do not know what I want to do in life except living it the best way possible, what ever that is. So, how to find my/your passion and meaning in life?
Embarking on the journey to find your passion can feel like navigating in a labyrinth. Twisting paths, dead ends, and constant nagging question of whether you are heading in the right direction. And yet, amidst the uncertainty and self doubt lies the potential for discovery, growth, and fulfilment.
The quest for passion:
Early on in life, we are bombarded with messages urging us to find “our passion” and to “follow our dreams” and yet we do not get any education or lessons in how to actually do it and the path to your passion is anything but clear cut. Nowadays it might even be more difficult as we are so preoccupied with all different types of social media, work and all the musts in life. We must make health choices, stay fit, be happy, have a family, have a good work with a big income, be pretty, be smart, have lots of friends, own a house, own a car, live life like the instagram posts. There are so much musts and pressure to always be a “perfect” human being. What ever perfect is in fashion at the moment. When do we actually have time to take a time out and think and reflect over what we truly want in life. We get bombarded by how things should be and how easy it is to achieve goals. But it is not, it takes time and you first and for most must know what they are.
The advice that many receive as a teenager or as young adults is ” follow your hart” or ” it will come to you”. But does it though? just that easy? Maybe for some but for many of us It doesn’t. What if our hearts leads us down paths fraught with uncertainty and doubt. In a world where the possibilities are endless, the paradox of choice can feel overwhelming. Maybe you like I can get paralysed by the fear of making the wrong choices, of choosing a path that leads to disappointment or regret or even worse failure. But for me failure is just that if you allow it to be failure. Failure can be so much more, it is growth and experience to learn from. All these fears can lead us in to a state of limbo, endless searching for that spark of passion that seems to elude us at every turn.
I do not think that the, no let me correct myself, I know that the path to finding my passion is not a linear one. I need to actively sought it out instead of waiting for it to come to me. To find it I and you, if you share my feelings, need to experiment, and explore new things. in rare times finding your passion might come as a lighting bolt. But most of the time it is messy and confusing process filled with false starts, expectations and detours. But it is probably these experiments we need to do to find out or give us clues about what we want to do and what we are passionated about.
Maybe I do not have one true calling, maybe I have a few just like you. And maybe the quest is about cultivating a sense of curiosity , resilience and self-awareness that allows us to navigate thought life withe grace and purpose.
So, dear reader, if you find yourself grabbling with the uncertainty just like moi, of not knowing what you are “supposed” to do just know you are not alone. And most of us are in the same situation at least once in life. We should try more things in life but at the same time don’t lose your head. Make decisions and follow it through, if you along the way feel that the decision was not the right one, change it and try something else. But before you make any life changing decision think thoroughly about the decision and the new choices you wan to make as it can change your life for ever. Make smart changes and if possible try to discuss with people who have made life changing decision to receive some advice. That is what I am doing and I also do the same with people I know who have found their passion in life. I need to star finding out what I like to do and what makes me happy while doing it. I need to be more attentive to my positive feelings and not always to my negative ones. I always know what I do not like while doing something or when I have done something but how about what I actually do like. I am not good at listening to myself, I need to start tune in to myself and cancel out all the outside noice. And I think I will start from there and I know it will be very difficult but at the same time that will be my starting point in my journey of finding my passion.
I will write more about by journey and keep you updated in finding my passion. And I hope dear reader that you will share your experience and thoughts. The more we share the more we can learn from each other. Until next time.
Cheers darlings!
